Logistic and Purchasing Manager - Japan
Mission of this role:
(Logistics: 70%)
Be responsible for both routine management of logistics/Purchase and establishment of lean logistic flow chain internally and externally in order to provide most cost effective, most efficient, and logistic services to the business as well as to drive suppliers performance improvements.
- Responsible for supply chain and related operations in the Operations Department.
- Manage and operate the order receipt and ordering plan from Japanese OEMs and other customers.
- In collaboration with overseas factories and related departments, establish and implement order plans.
- Work with logistics vendors to optimize and streamline operations, such as import/export customs clearance, transportation arrangements, and inventory management.
- Providing appropriate export control management, internal training, and process management.
- Support for internal and external certifications, audits, etc. (IATF, SOX, etc.)

Responsible for the management of quality improvement, stable supply, and cost reduction with involvement of internal and external stakeholders to achieve stable procurement at the lowest cost with the best timing to meet the requirements.
Specific Responsibilities:
(Logistics)
- Appropriately manage day-to-day order and supply related activities with ERP, EDI and IT tools.
- Lead and set targets for KPI-based inventory reduction, transportation cost management, and delivery delay prevention activities.
- Attend meetings with overseas factories, customers, other departments, etc. as department head, travel, deploy internally, and report.
- Lead and supervise a team in physical inventory at the warehouse, emergency response to defects, etc.
(Purchase)
As an indirect purchasing manager, responsible for controlling a series of operations from supplier selection to order placement.
- Supervision, maintenance, and management of the internal indirect purchasing process (PRPO system)
- Supplier management (evaluation and credit check)
- Supplier selection and negotiations
- Review purchasing contract details (terms and conditions, pricing, subcontracting law, etc.)
- Handling emergency purchasing
- Provide employee education and training related to purchasing
- PRPO application procedures and compliance with subcontracting laws
Must Have Requirements:
Technical Skills:
(Logistics)
- A total 10 years of work experience in a manufacturer, trading, or logistics company that handles industrial products, and experience in Team member development of 3-5 members as a leader
- At least 5 years total experience in overseas procurement, overseas logistics department, order planning, overseas sales administration, etc.
- Must be flexible attend night meetings
- As a division manager, capable of building precise consensus with stakeholders and committed to the division's goals
(Purchase)
- Knowledge of purchasing department operations, preferably in the automotive sector
- Demonstrated expertise in commercial negotiations and negotiation team training.
- Must be flexible and able to travel (overseas) and attend night meetings.

- Proven ability to form excellent working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Process driven with experience of problem-solving tools.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment and to tight deadlines.
